The night before last, as I was about to get into bed at around 01:00, I noticed that the snow was settling. Within moments I was dressed again and standing in the road with my camera and my tripod.
The star effect is without any filters, if I remember correctly, it's just something that happens with Canon digitals.
Canon EOS 20D, 50mm, f/22, 13sSec, ISO 400
Comments:
The lights are very striking but what I like most about this shot is that, for me, it really conveys that 'middle of the night' feel. And I felt that before I'd read you took it at 1am, so you've obviously captured it extremely well.
beautiful. i see you really like b&w a lot. this works in b&w. i believe the star-light effect comes out when shooting light at high f-stops and not limited to cannons.
No Filters? I'll try frisky?'s technique before I run out and get a canon, but if it doesn't work I'll have to pick one up. (as if I had the money :))
Great shot!

Wow! That's gorgeous! I especially love how the road leads your eye... And having a Canon means you've saved the £8 I spent on my filter! Hee hee! :)

The lights really caught my eyes. Not to mention the silent, almost eerie, feel of the picture. I should try Frisky's tip on the star-effect.

Wonderful shot. I agree with an above poster that the road leading the eye into the picture is very appealing. And the stars are just cool.
