Some Germans, I am told, believe that seemingly harmless escalators can, on occasion, be people eating monsters. Many small children are scared by this story and some never forget this later in adult life.
This was shot from a balcony at the main station in Hamburg (Huptbahnof again). This was the last one I shot before a security guard firmly, but politely, told us that tripods were forbidden.
I fear that imagology is being taken over by moving trains.
Nice clash of intersecting lines Stuart - glad you got this in before security jumped you. I like the movement of the train adding more lines to the shot as well.
(seems photography is being stifled these days by paranoid security teams - we got turned over at our last outing shooting Big Ben!)
love the feel of this picture.
Save the people!!!!!

I once saw a kid who's shirt was trapped in the escalator at Picadilly station! It was scary!!
And I got told off taking pictures a ASDA. ASDA!
I love this picture - the lines and lights - it's really cool.
I remember being a bit frightened by escalators as a young child; they have teeth, after all. You've made them look a bit ominous, and the diagonal lines in the foreground work well.
great angle, fantastic highlighting from the light fittings....almost missed the fact that there is a train in the picture too, alot of things to look at in this one, nicely done.....and the guards - just keep several pepperamis in your pocket, then tell him its a bit of an animal.... :P

VERY eye-pleasing composition. I particularly like the balance achieved by the angle of the shot and the escalators railings. Keep up the good work!
