As part of my avoidance of London and the search for alternative inspiration, I jumped in the car and headed south. Before I knew it I was in in north London (oops), so I decided to expose my camera to the variety of Camden Market. The journey home took more than three times as long due to road works and accidents; As frustrating as that was, at least I wasn't involved in one of them.
This shot is of a semi-open-air Chinese food stall in Camden market. The smell was delicious, but it was actually the steam that caught my attention.
Addendum:
I can't decide which I prefer, currently I prefer the colour version. The b&w is now here. Which do you prefer and why?

I like the color shot better, it puts more of taste on the food. Just looking at this picture gies me heart burn!
nice shot
Yes the color shot is excellent. I saw the B&W before your reposted :) and thought I was loosing my mind. B&W is always timeless, which is appealing but the color, like Tom mentioned, gives it "flavor".
This is a treat for the senses! I greatly prefer this color version to the B&W. The impression is so powerful I can almost smell the food and feel the heat. I like how you've framed the image, giving it plenty of space at the top for the rising steam. It's fantastic.
I vote for the color as well... the yellow of the food against the darker colors of the background is so striking... perfect depth of field... just a great shot! :)
I also like the color version; the yellow is such a strong compositional element here. I also love the steam, the selective DOF,and the other colors. I guess your inspiration returned from vacation.
The black and white version is great for adding the focus to the steam, but I could literally sit here with a fork and try to eat the colour version until I poked a hole in my monitor. :)
I like both. I think the color version is more interesting because the viewer attention is directed to the focal point better. ( the food). However the background is too distracting. Thats were the B&W version works better. The background becomes less obvious. If you could somehow combine these features of each version I think you would get a much stronger piece. Maybe the darkening of the background in the color version would resolve this. Just a thought.
I absolutely love pictures like this, probably because I can't take them. The color is definitely my favorite. Everyone has already described much better than I could: the taste comes through the color and the yellow is key to the photo. What a great picture.
I prefer the color shot here. The yellows as other people have written, are very strong and the background browns are warm which works well with the steam to really give a feel of a food market.
Definately makes me hungry! I wish there were more markets like this in the US.
I love this! If I wasn't hungry before I sure am now. It reminds me of the streets of Taiwan at night when you're hungry and people are offering all sorts of yummy temptations.
darn it, hungry now, cant be bothered making anything and there a 4 chocolate muffins the the cupboard that are now sending my belly secret messages........colour for me too, because it looks tastier and Im hungry :)
By far, the colour is superior. Before I read the info about the shot, I thought you'd taken it on a recent trip to China. The only give away was the blurred word 'food' in the background. Nice angle. Excellent colour. Superb atmosphere. It makes the photo come alive. Well Done!

Love the steam. V appetising. The colour version definitely works better - I think there isn't enough tonal variation in the food for good b&w.

I favor the color. I think the black and white is great also but the color image gives a nicer 'feel'. Honestly making me hungry, well done.

The steam really gives this photo temperature. The yellows and the greens are wonderful, and the DOF makes the photo snap. Great shot.

Absolutely the color one. For all the reasons everyone else listed. :) Why did I have to see this photo now... I have become hungry!

This one smells good! I like the colour one best - the colour of the food is crucial to the success of the shot.
