Gloucester_Road

This is exactly what it says on the tin: platform art, by David Batchelor at Gloucester Road Underground station, London.

Mike and I got on the wrong train so we decided to change at this station and I noticed these installations as the train pulled in. All day I'd been looking for a good panoramic subject and then this presented itself.

This size doesn't do it any justice. A very wide (almost 2000 pixels across) can be seen here

Only later did I read this article about photography on London's Underground.

And for those who care, this was ten separate shots to which I applied a little bit of technological magic.

Comments:

Got to take my hat off to you for this one, i stand on this platform looking at this installation at least 5 times a week (i work round the corner)but the thought never crossed my mind. Nice shot - [Chuks]

I've passed through this station a couple of times now & kept meaning to go back & take a photo or two. As to that article, it seems aimed at professional photographers/film makers. As far as I am aware, you are allowed to take photos on the underground as long as they are not for commercial use and you cannot use flash. Though, in today's climate, it is probably worth informing someone that you are going to do it if it's not just a quick snap.

Nicely done Stuart. Seemless stitching. I too thought this was worth a picture or 10, but didn't. Great idea on the panaroma.

I only wish we had such beautiful installations in the Boston MBTA system. It may have made my train raid for over an hour more bearable. Fantastic job stitching the photographs, the overall tone is perfect!

Great, great panoramic and excellent work on the stitching. I'd imagine there are some great shots to be had on and around the underground, I really must investigate more!

Well I took it upon myself to open the large version, quite handy at work seeing I run a 3200x1200 display :o) Stitching is very well done, handjob ooohhh I mean was this done in PS by hand eye or using some stitching software?
